The City of New York issued a competitive development RFP in the Fall of 2011 for a major hotel and residential development on the Brooklyn waterfront, meant to generate revenue to build and maintain the multi-phased Brooklyn Bridge Park. The design in its shape and materials, which include a living green-screen walls and green roofs, is meant to relate to the natural contours of the Park and the adjacent waterfront, which faces the Lower Manhattan skyline. Punctuating this living skin are large picture windows of the duplex condominium apartments and hotel suites.
